Steve Pellegrino is on life support with his wife, Rae, keeping vigil by his side in the ICU, according to a fundraiser organized by William Shear. A picture of the couple is taped to his hospital bed—ready for when he wakes up.

Pellegrino, a respected artisan, had just risked everything—emptying his life savings to move from a home workshop into his first commercial space. Now, mounting medical bills threaten to unravel his hard-fought progress.

“He would give the shirt off his back to someone who needed it,” the campaign reads. “Now it’s our turn.”

Donors from across the country, including fellow craftsmen and industry leaders, have already contributed over $50,000 toward the $65,000 goal as of Saturday, Feb. 22.

“While I’ve never met the man, I do know and admire his work,” one supporter wrote. “Praying for a speedy recovery for a local legend.”

Pellegrino’s supporters say every dollar helps. Those looking to contribute can find more details here.
